OTTOMAN

OTTOMAN INCENSE BURNERS THE SMELL OF THE DREAMS Incense Burners (The Scent of Dreams) It was used in ancient Egypt, the Middle East and the Far East, in all ancient cultures, Christianity and Islamic countries. Today, it is a kind of fire burner or incense burner. It is shaped within the framework of the civilization and beliefs in which it is used. The incense of fragrant smoke-producing censers is the root seed called Bahur, from which it gets its name. gets. Sprinkling scent on the fire was one of the important conditions to be fulfilled in ceremonies in all polytheistic and monotheistic religions since the first civilizations known in history. It was accepted as a means of spiritual cleansing and getting closer to the gods. Its best examples are given during the Great Seljuks period. Two types of censers were used in history. One was covered and allowed the bahur to burn. The other one was designed with an open top, as it was thought that the bahur would be actively burned during ceremonies. Its general form is sphere or egg-shaped. Its openwork body allows smoke and odor to escape. In the Ottoman Empire, the use of the open-topped form is frequently encountered. In Christianity, incense is the symbol of prayers rising to God, the holder on the incense burners or the top top represents divinity, therefore it is decorated with precious stones or stones. In Islam, there is no ritual of burning incense related to worship, but its use in masjids and mosques has become traditional due to the love of its beautiful smell. In the old bazaars of Islamic cities that adhere to their traditions, such as Cairo, hand-held incense burners are brought into shops for a fee to incense the air (it is believed that the beautiful scent attracts angels and drives away the devil). It has been as valuable as gold since the 19th century and has taken a significant share of Yemen's exports.
